Coming off back-to-back national championships, the Georgia Bulldogs were anticipating a great season. After winning every regular season game, the football team entered the SEC championship with their rivals: the University of Alabama.
Commencing in the Mercedes-Benz Stadium, UGA took on Alabama in what can be described as one of the biggest rivalries in football. Georgia started strong, rushing for the first touchdown, but fell behind after the Crimson Tide scored two touchdowns and a field goal before the second half. Although the players fought courageously throughout the third and fourth quarters, gaining the higher score, Alabama managed a final touchdown in the last few moments of the game, securing a win and the SEC championship title.
Despite this, the Georgia Bulldogs went on to play Florida State in the Orange Bowl. Scoring five touchdowns in the second quarter alone, the Bulldogs proudly fought for their comeback. Blowing Florida State University out of the water, Georgia came back with a 63-3 win, setting the stage for next year.
